And There's Even a Part 3
Apr 10, 2022 | Roanoke, VA
On Sunday we once again were given the option of going and seeing the street performers. Although the simple idea of watching their show again for the 3rd time probably wouldn't have gotten us over to the park again, the fact that it was much nicer weather that day combined with how we were enjoying the company of our new friends (and with perhaps a dash of "it's nice to support the local scene"), we made it over there eventually. But first we set out to do a little of our own stuff.
We ate some pho at Pho Viet Nam which was somewhat hilariously rundown from the outside, but it had good ratings on Google and the food turned out not to be too shabby. But for some reason they had a large wall of the restaurant dedicated to small bottles of paint. Like, several hundred different colors. At first we thought they were for painting Dungeons/Dragons figurines because the brand was called DND DC and the waiter was pretty nerdy looking. But it turned out they were just nail polish. Still odd there were so many bottles of nail polish inside a restaurant.
We went to Black Dog Salvage which was not actually a salvage yard but more of an antiques/crafts showroom for artists and collectors who want to sell their goods. They had a lot of pretty cool stuff in there as well as a couple who were desperate to sell us their 14 dollar loaf of focaccia bread. We wandered around a bit behind the shop because it connects to one of the winding greenways in the area and had some art on display. If I haven't explained it earlier, greenways seem to be a southern phenomena and it's basically a long winding public pathway that snakes through a town.
We pretty much didn't watch the performers at all when we got to the park. It was just so nice and sunny and so we stood around in the vendor area and chatted with the usual crew (Cain, Courtney, no Alayna this time, and a new guy named Trevor) and had some beers. Some lady that apparently is the new girlfriend of Courtney's best friend's ex-husband was trashed beyond belief and was laughing and falling into bushes. Courtney said she was probably just nervous to meet her and drank too much.
Cain invited us to go to A Few Old Goats which is yet another brewery that is somewhat walking distance of our place, so we went over there and had one with him and then we also ended up going to get Indian food at Taaza again.

This is how people in the South pronounce Appalachia. I had never heard it said that way in my life before coming here.
