Grandin Theater
Mar 26, 2022 | Roanoke, VA
We went to the "90th birthday" of the Grandin Theater. Apparently they always play a free movie once per month at 10am on a Saturday, but on this extra special occasion they also gave out a free small bag of popcorn. Lucky us. They played the movie Grand Hotel which won best picture in 1932, the same year the Grandin Theater opened. It was really good, and I think we're going to get more into watching old films since we also enjoyed watching the original Nightmare Alley (1947) a few weeks back.
Afterward we went to Taaza and got Indian food. Neither of our dishes were particularly photogenic so I didn't take a picture. Sorry.

I didn't take this pic. We saw the show during the day.

I didn't take this pic either, but it was too dark to capture the inside.

I did, in fact, take this photo though

Back of the theater. For whatever reason I happen to like the look of paint on brick.

This is unrelated to the Grandin visit, but this sign is located near where we park most of the time to go to our house. We're not sure if it was like this before we got here or if it happened on one of the first couple days, and we're also unsure if it was due to a stormy wind or from a malevolently thrown rock. But in any case, this is the sad sign of Aesy's restaurant, with even their haphazardly placed strip of caution tape broken and blowing in the wind. Aesy's is another one of these down home southern restaurants that sell crap like "bologna and egg sandwiches" for a couple bucks. But I just can't say it's in the same league as Roanoke's Millionaire's Club.
