Kayaking Carvins Cove Reservoir

We had been saying for a while that we needed to get out and kayak again because we had such an amazing time doing it in the Florida springs. And even though we had both decided that there's no way lake kayaking could be as good as creek/river/spring kayaking due to how you're probably kind of just rowing forever and not getting anywhere specific when you're in the middle of the lake, we decided to give it a go just to see. Spoiler alert: it's not nearly as good as the springs.
In the morning we dropped by the co-op to grab a breakfast burrito and a salad to take out on the boat. When we made it over to the lake the old hicks running the place were all grumpy and dumb. Even as far as telling Erika to not stand on their stupid little grass area in front of their work booth for who knows what reason. The kayaking was fine, but it was exactly as we predicted: lots of rowing and not much scenery change. The most excitement we got was first a very bizarre "trail" of bubbles in the water that was about 4 feet wide and ran a wiggly path for several hundred yards in the water. It was a bit creepy. Then creepy event #2 was that this little "house" that we decided to row toward (since it was basically the only object of note in the whole place) turned out to be where the spillway is. Spillway meaning the place where overflow pours off the side of the dam (or dam-like-thing). We didn't know how dangerous it was to be near it and still don't, but the sound of the pouring water was enough to keep us away.
That night we watched The Lobster which is by the same director as The Killing of a Sacred Deer that we had watched a few nights before. Equally weird and innovative, the main difference being that The Lobster had a lot more complexity to the plot with lots of oddball twists and turns. Incredibly creative film once again though.
