The Biodome

Before heading out to the Biodôme today, Erika finished up some earrings she had started making yesterday. And on our way to the car we found a friendly cat.

It's too bad none of the cats here have had collars. I bet they have funny French names.

We're continuing our quest to hit up all the science museums that are on our "passport" we purchased. Last time we did the Insectarium, and now we are doing the Biodome, which is a live animal exhibit that had several biospheres of animals to explore: Sub-Atlantic Islands (which literally had ice for walls), Tropical Rainforest (which was very hot and humid), Gulf of Saint Lawrence and Laurentian Maple Forest.
The Biodome is attached to the Olympic stadium which has that huge leaning appendage. It's apparently the largest leaning structure in the world, and was built in 1976 for that year's summer games.

King penguins, apparently. At first we thought it was some translation issue where they were trying to say they were emperor penguins, only to look it up later and find out that king penguins are indeed a thing. They look really similar but are slightly smaller, which is crazy because these things were huge!

The interestingly named "Southern Screamer". She was seated for the first 5 minutes we were viewing her, and then she got up and revealed that she was sitting on her eggs.

It was Erika's pick and we braved the rain and downtown parking in order to go to Kinton Ramen. Despite being a chain (they have 23 locations---started in Toronto but they even have a couple in Chicago and one on the west coast in Vancouver) the ramen was really tasty.

It's funny seeing Asian menus in French. At this point we can read menus very well. But that doesn't mean we can actually talk to anybody beyond "hello, how are you, I'm fine thanks, have a nice day"

Erika got the spicy one and I got the shoyu. We got a beer combo and a sake combo because Erika wanted to drink both.
