Walkin Everywhere
Sep 17, 2022 | Montreal, QC
This day started off with no plan and then somehow turned into us being out literally all day long. But I suppose that can be exactly the reason for such a thing to occur.
First we thought we were going to go over to the Mile End area and get bagels since Montreal is famous for their specific style of bagels but we only tried them from one of the two "go to" spots for bagels and wanted to compare them to the other place (Fairmont vs St Viateur). However, after driving past Osmo x Marusan Cafe (which we loved last time) we decided to go there again instead.
That small change of plan didn't do much to our alter our day, but then we decided to go print something from the UPS store and it turned out that their printer was broken. We had walked kind of far to get there so afterward we just started walking around, and ended up never getting back home till midnight.
I'll just add that the thing we were trying to print was a "friendship card" we had been working on. Since we're so bad at making friends and it always seems awkward to be like "let me give you my number... where's a pen?" or whatever, we thought we would print up some cards that we could easily hand out when we strike up a conversation. We'll see how it works out if we ever actually get them made!

At Osmo I got the brioche bun again with a cold brew. Erika got an espresso tonic (espresso + tonic + lemon)

Sorry this day is going to have a ton of architecture shots. Gotta catch the aesthetic before we take off next week!

Had to capture the little garbage cans they use here because they're so different than anything we've seen in the US. The trucks come by 3 times per week for them: twice for trash and once for recycling.

Found a cute and friendly cat in the back alley lane behind some apartments. No name once again though.

Really popular used clothes store catering to guys called RE-UP. They had a lot of more hip and modern clothes rather than older vintage stuff, so it must come from people who have a high turnover in their wardrobe.

This is why I love Montreal, because even just your standard everyday shoe store has something weird or cool going on with its look or layout. Those white shoes are spray painted just for decor. (NEON is the store)

Now this place (Marché Flow) was popular. It was huge and still absolutely packed with a line out the door to buy things. We just stuck to "looking around" rather than deal with the line.

After dinner we thought we might as well stick around for some drinks. We told Eliana that she should join us when she gets off work, so after going to a kind of basic beer bar and then a tiki rum bar, we met up with her at the place we were most interested in hitting that night: Candi Bar.
All in all, according to Erika's pedometer app, we walked 7.2 miles this day.

A "Cucumber Ricky" (gin, cucumber, lime juice, soda) and a "Negroni QC" (gin, amer amer (bitter), vermouth rouge) from Bar Chez Baptiste. This place had kind of lame service attitude.

At Barraca Rhumerie (rum purveyor). This place was cooler than I had expected. I should have taken a picture of the hammerhead shark on their wall. I mean it was fake, but hammerheads are fun!

She got the "Pineapple Express" (Rum, Limoncello, pineapple, basil, ginger syrup and ginger beer), and I got the "A La Playa" (Saint-James, orgeat, coconut water, lime juice and pineapple bitters)

Had to get the 3 eyed Mario with the shrooms. Some ladies having their birthday party under this mural were visibly uncomfortable with me aiming my camera at/above them for this shot.

After wandering around indecisively for a good chunk of time, we ended up at S.O. Qun. No idea what that stands for, but the food was surprisingly cheap but tasty. This was a recommendation from Eliana, and she was happy to sit down for some food after only eating 3 croissants for the whole day while at work.

Erika just grabbed some veggie tempura. Somehow we ended up eating only Asian food all day long. Not the worst thing that could happen!
