Starting with my whole "got my phone wet" debacle in Au Chasm, there was a string of inconvenient events that led to us having to drop back down into the US for a day. First I changed services (Cricket -> Google Fi) so that I could get a good deal on a new phone (got the Galaxy S22 for $300 instead of $800) but they won't ship the phone to Canada since they technically don't serve Canadians. So I had to have it shipped to my Dad who then had to ship it to me, which was very expensive I might add. It was thirty-something bucks just to ship and for some reason he put down that the phone was $500 instead of the $300 I told him to put, so I got whacked with a $100 import tax. And not only all that, but I couldn't activate it on a Canadian network, hence why we had to cross the border. And speaking of crossing the border, I was surprised at how big of a pain the US border guy was considering we're actual US citizens. He was even asking me about my job. Like what are they going to do, not let me into my own country?

But since it had to be done, we decided to make a whole thing of it and rent a room for the night in Burlington VT. Originally (like before we went to Canada) we had planned on staying in Burlington for a whole month+ like one of our normal spots, but it turned out to be a bit more pricey than we wanted to pay. And as it turned out, we were totally satisfied only seeing it for a day. Not that we had a bad time, but it just didn't seem to have a month's worth of things to see and do. And everything just came across as a bit junky and run down. Although it's possible it was ruined by having to put it back to back with Montreal. Maybe the whole US is ruined now, we'll just have to wait and see.
