Off to Florida

Dec 03, 2021 | Daytona Beach, FL

We left New Orleans in the morning and were sad to see how long our drive would be to Daytona Beach, Florida. 9 hours! Which definitely became longer with pit-stops, etc.

We got to Florida in the night which kind of sucked because we didn't get to see anything, really. We did however catch the moment we entered into Chattahoochee, which we had only heard of from the ridiculous song by Alan Jackson (look it up if you must).

We got to our hotel and decided to head straight to our room with only a couple backpacks and Toad (our pet spider, if you've forgotten). The hotel itself was campy beyond our wildest dreams. The Hawaiian Inn was a terrible, 1980's attempt at capturing the essence of Hawaii. It smelled of cigarette smoke throughout the hallways and the receptionists existed, but didn't really serve a purpose. We found our way to the elevator, which to Erika's horror, seemed like it had never gotten an upgrade since the hotel's existence.

We made our way up to the room at the end of the hall and were only mildly less-than-pleased with our room. It wasn't up to par with our cleanliness standards and had a hole in the wall that was filled with white toothpaste instead of spackle. Our balcony was huge, but we weren't able to capture the true beauty of the view with it being nighttime and all.
