Asian Extravaganza & Brass Ovaries

In the morning, we went to an all vegan coffee shop that Brian found online called Fat Cat’s. They had kolaches, cuban coffees, and pastries galore. We got biscuits and gravy, a kolache, and a kolache pastry that had blackberries and cream cheese. The barista gave us a free cubano con leche to try. It was very good, as was all of the food.
After, we visited 99 Ranch, a huge market in a parking lot (this entire parking lot was fully Asian stores and shops by the way). We thought it was going to be a normal grocery store (we hadn’t yet realized that literally all of the shops were Asian in nature), but turned out to be a huge Asian grocery store. They had dead ducks hanging and cooking, beautiful and giant fresh-baked pastries of all sorts, and a popular restaurant/hot food area. We saw a large bottle of beer that was bottled in plastic. We didn’t buy anything here but took note of its existence.
Next, we popped into the Kinokuniya bookstore, which we would often visit in San Francisco before our travels. Erika bought a couple cute cat stickers to add to her water bottle. There was an insanely funny Japanese manga about the political climate of the United States, most of which seemed to revolve around Trump. All the photos and things we saw in the book looked well-informed and like quite an accurate portrayal of it all. The shop also had a huge Totoro stuffie and buildable dioramas of pretty spaces like shops or homes that you could buy.
Next, we went to Daiso, which was in the same parking lot. We bought lots of ramen there, as well as some push pins for Brian’s schedule board. On the drive home. We saw a business with the name of “Brass Ovaries” that we thought was pretty funny.
