Vampire Party

We went to an area of town we hadn’t visited before that was a bit sectioned off (51st/Airport). We ate lunch at an all-vegan meat + cheese restaurant called Rebel Cheese. We had sandwiches that were very good. Then we walked around and discovered Mueller Park and kept it in mind for a bike ride on another day. We saw a big artistically-made dragon made from small, shiny tiles and had glowing eyes.

That night we attended our much-anticipated Halloween Vampire party. It was put on by a local filmmakers’ club and took place in a random empty lot. They had a free bar set up (donations accepted), a photo op area, some art pieces in a metal shipping container, and then a movie showing. First they premiered a short film by one of the local filmmakers called Thank You For Nothing and then they played the vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows. It was fun and we got to talk to some locals which was something we hadn’t done much of before then. At the end of the event they had a “blood ritual” where they handed out Takis and Powerade for communion, and had some apparatus spray fake blood everywhere. Some people danced in the blood but we were content with just watching.
