Biking the Rail Trail
Aug 03, 2022 | Albany, NY
Here we are, back at the bikes. We're running out of time in Albany at this point so we had to make sure to take care of the one other trail we wanted to ride. Seems to be a bit of a thing in the North East to have "rail trails", as we rode one in Cape Cod as well. It make sense; it's a clear cut path with no/few stops (for the trains) and therefore serves the same purpose for bikes.
The first half of the ride was all uphill. Not terribly steep but enough to keep us from being able to fully cruise. And it was probably even tougher for Erika, because once we had lunch and got back to the bikes she noticed that her tire was flat. Who knows when that leakage started---maybe right from the beginning of the ride. So we limped over to a bike shop that was only a 10 minute walk and got it patched up. And they only charged us $27 for the privilege, despite saying it would only be "10 or 15" when we asked.
At least the ride home was all smooth sailing. That steepness turned into quite a blast to ride back going in the other direction, and I'm sure the new tire tube was a help to Erika as well!
