Packing out of Albany
Aug 06, 2022 | Albany, NY
We put off the packing in a big way this time, I think mostly because we knew it was going to be pretty easy. Not only do we get better at doing it every time, but at this spot in Albany we had better access to the car than at a lot of other places. In spots like NYC and Daytona Beach and one of our Austin spots we lived in a big building with an elevator, and even after navigating the elevator situation (which is kind of complex if you want to move boxes efficiently) there often was quite a bit more distance to go (big parking lot in Florida, difficult street parking in NYC). In Albany we only had to go out our apt door, immediately out the main brownstone door, and then down a few steps of the stoop. And we were usually able to get a parking spot on the street right in front of our place (which we did in fact secure for our move). It still took us plenty of hours (bathroom stuff (they don't always give us shampoo!), kitchen stuff (gotta have our spices among plenty of other things that often don't come with the place), my work/office/computer stuff, all of our clothes/shoes/sunglasses, and just a bunch of other miscellaneous items that we simultaneously could easily do without yet will sometimes randomly become useful at certain points of our trip. But it did turn out to be a pretty easy one this time, so I guess we're used to this whole business of traipsing around the country, a full year in.
